Our Story

Downtown Garland has become a special place for families. With its revitalized square, playground, and open green spaces, it’s a wonderful spot where kids can run, play soccer, and enjoy being outside together. As a family, we loved spending time downtown and soaking in that sense of community.

But as parents of very young littles—especially with a one-year-old just learning to walk—we often found ourselves wishing for a space where our youngest could safely explore on her own. While the outdoor areas are fantastic for bigger kids, it can be harder for little ones to move freely without the risk of being bumped by faster, older children. We wanted a place where families like ours could slow down, relax, and enjoy downtown together—without having to keep one eye constantly on the ground.

That wish is what inspired Little Olly Opry Playhouse.
 

Our name is a nod to the history of the building itself, once home to the Garland Opry House—and also to our oldest, Oliver. We loved the idea of playing into that history (pun intended) while reimagining the space for the next generation—bringing play, creativity, and a little fun back into the heart of downtown. Music, imagination, and joyful movement are woven throughout our playhouse as a tribute to what this building once was and what it can continue to be.

Little Olly Opry Playhouse was created as a place where young children can explore safely, parents can truly enjoy time together, and families can feel at home while being part of the vibrant downtown Garland community.
